The forests in and around Lubniewice are filled with fascinating flora and fauna. These creatures range from amphibians and reptiles though to birds and mammals. However, perhaps one of the most interesting and plentiful, but less visible, animals are wild boar.
Wild Boar are large, bristly haired pigs and the ancestors of domesticated pigs. They have four continually growing tusks, which are used for fighting during the breeding season. They also wallow in mud and water to help to protect the wild boar against sunburn and biting insects. They roam wild in fairly large numbers in most of the forests of the province of Lubuskie in the west of Poland.
